In 2010, we embarked on an adventure that would transform the barren land of Dennehof Farm into the picturesque haven it is today. Tobie always had the dream of his own little farm and with our two small daugters we took the giant step. The only things on the farm were a few old buildings, under which the farmhouse and 2 old cottages, surrounded by bushes. Back in the day the old barn was used to store onions in, which was then converted into a horse stable.

Our journey began with the humble task of clearing and cleaning, erecting fences, and introducing life onto the land. Eventually, we started filling the land with cattle took in 'hanslammers'  from neighbouring farms and started taking care of them.

Later we planted some spinach and 4 hectares of proteas. But, shortly after our first harvest (about 4 years later), a fire tore through the farm and destroyed what was left of the proteas.

Our friend’s daughter, Marli, used to come horse riding on the farm on weekends and was so captivated by our farm’s rustic charm that she said that she was going to get married on the farm one day.

Years later, as Marli pursued her studies in architecture, she returned with her beloved, Ricus, also an architect by trade, ready to turn her childhood dreams into reality… and that is when the transformation started.

Together, Marli and Ricus designed and helped us fix the venue and were the first couple to get married here. The only condition I had was that I wanted the venue to blend in with nature and to use natural elements such as wood, stone, etc.

All we needed to complete the vision was a chapel on the farm where our couples could get married, completing the Dennehof Farm wedding experience.

Today, Dennehof Farm stands as a testament to love, resilience, and the beauty of beginnings. 

Our gardens, meticulously tended, provide the perfect backdrop for unforgettable moments. Our farm is filled with beautiful apple trees, which always makes for exceptional photos, especially around flowering and fruiting time. In addition to that, we have the most spectacular view of the Theewaterskloof Dam and surrounding mountains, making the sunsets phenomenally beautiful – perfect for your wedding photos!
